Honoring its 118th anniversary, Oris, which was founded in 1904, launches the Hölstein Edition 2022, which is named after the Swiss brand’s hometown. Limited to 250 pieces, the stainless steel watch revives an icon from the nineties, the Full Steel Worldtimer.
Introduced in 1998, the original the new model is based upon was driven by an extraordinary movement Oris had debuted a year before. Known as the “Worldtimer,” Oris caliber 690 offered progressive features. Using plus and minus buttons on the case flanks, it could adjust local time in one-hour jumps either forwards or backwards, with home time shown on a subdial at 3 o’clock. Even more impressively, as the time moved past midnight in either direction, the date would change, too.
The new edition is a faithful remake of the original, with a sporty and bold blue dials with Superluminova coated indices, numbers, and hands. The case has a diameter of 36.5 mm and is attached to a three-link metal bracelet. Behind the closed case back with the cute Oris bear engraving ticks the automatic caliber 690 with stop seconds function and a power reserve of 38 hours. The new Hölstein Edition 2022 is an e-commerce exclusive and retails for $4,300 USD.

This looks like it has potential to be a nice travel watch, but I can’t believe that with that case it is only 50m WR and you shouldn’t really swim with it. Too bad because I like it otherwise.
