Showing at WatchTime New York 2022: Czapek Quai des Bergues Emerald Green L

WatchTime New York 2022 is only a few weeks away, with the iconic event making its seventh annual return to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 21-23. The three-day event is dedicated to showcasing some of the top timepieces of the year and giving guests the opportunity to converse with industry professionals. Over the course of the weekend, more than 30 participating watch brands will display their most sought-after releases, giving a rare hands-on opportunity with some fantastic maisons for attendees.

Not only does WatchTime New York have incredible and new timepieces on display, but it is also a display of the design trends that have dominated the release market in the past year. Perhaps the most talked about trend from 2022 is the extensive use of brightly colored dials and just the general integration of color. One such brand to experiment with a colored dial is Czapek with its latest Quai des Bergues model, the update to the collection now taking shape in none other than in an entrancing emerald green. From the Piaget Polo Date to the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Lime Green, the color of the year for watches is green (check out more on that, here).

The Quai des Bergues collection is not new to Czapek, with it featuring an established design code that was originally released as a tribute to the revival of the Czapek & Cie brand. In this vein, for the Quai des Bergues Emerald Green L, Czapek opts for a familiar 42.5mm steel case, making use of the “Revolution” silhouette and finishing it throughout with a mirror polish.

The emerald green enamel dial is handmade and features an edgy “flinqué” texture in contrast to the smooth surface of the case. Between 7 and 8 o’clock, there is a small-seconds sub-dial while between 4 and 5 o’clock a split sub-dial displays the day on the left and indicates the power reserve on the right. Applied roman numeral hour markers compliment the rhodium-plated steel hands presented in the brand’s signature “fleur de lys” style.

Powering the model, Czapek makes use of their haute horlogerie proprietary caliber SXH1, which was originally designed for previous Quai des Bergues model to be explicitly technical and sober. The current iteration is a rework of the movement to reflect the brand’s increased inspiration from Antarctique design. The result is skeletonized sections of extensive openwork that are visible through a sapphire caseback. The mechanical hand-wound movement is capable of a 168-hour (7-day) power reserve on 2 barrel springs.

The Czapek Quai des Bergues Emerald Green is available for pre-order via the brand’s website now, with pricing marked at CHF 18,000 (approximately $18,350).
