With a long history of engineering firsts in materials, movements, and design, the brand continues this legacy with its latest: the Eco-Drive 365. Powered by clean energy and distinctly chic in style, these light-driven watches epitomize the brand’s commitment to sustainability and superior craftsmanship.

Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology, born out of a vision during the 1970s energy crisis, relies on the brilliance of any light. By ingeniously converting light into energy, Citizen was able to develop the world’s first light-powered analog watch in 1976. Since then, the brand’s light-powered watches have gone on to adorn wrists across countless nations, showcasing Citizen’s dedication to sustainable technologies and leading the market in forward-thinking manufacturing. With the Eco-Drive 365, this legacy continues, with the models able to offer a full year of operation on a single charge.

Each model in the Eco-Drive 365 series boasts a distinctive stainless steel case, with the design taking direct inspiration from a timepiece produced by the brand in 1973 known as the Citizen Quartz EFA. Thoughtfully designed and meticulously crafted, these cases feature clean lines, elegant ridgelines, and curved sapphire windows. The overall design harkens to a retro-futuristic aesthetic unlike much else, all while thoroughly embodying the brand’s legacy of sustainable performance, style, and innovation.

On the wrist, the Eco-Drive 365 wears 42.5mm by 11.1mm, with three distinct models available including a limited edition full steel model, alongside two regular production editions in a black ion-plated option and a two-tone variation. The two regular production models feature matching-tone steel bracelets, while the limited edition is secured to the wrist via a Leather Working Group (LWG) certified calf leather strap. The LWG is a global organization comprised of leather brands, tanners, and chemical companies which assess the environmental impact and safety of leather production processes, and certifies tanners that meet its rigorous auditing standards.

The dial of the new watch is a canvas of innovation. Utilizing the latest manufacturing techniques, Citizen has created a surface that not only captures the essence of the endless starry sky, but also generates an outsized power for the watch upon each exposure to light. Glittering accents in various colors and sizes adorn the dial, creating a surface that exudes the innate beauty of our planet.

The metal indices, strategically placed on the outer ring, add depth and breadth to the display, further elevating the aesthetic. Notably, while the two regular production models opt for applied metal indices, the third all-steel variation makes use of four lab grown rubies alongside gold-tone accents for a particularly vintage-inspired look. Lab grown rubies notably have the same hardness and sparkle as rubies mined from the earth, with each ethically-created gem produced in adherence with the highest level of environmental, safety, and labor standards.

At the core of the Eco-Drive 365 is the remarkable Caliber E365 movement. The mechanism, designed to run for 365 days on a full charge, represents the next generation in light-powered Eco-Drive technology, with it importantly also able to maintain an accuracy of +/-15 seconds per month. The movement is the beating heart of sustainability in the watch, translating light into timekeeping performance and bringing innovative function to aesthetically-driven form.

The Citizen Eco-Drive 365 series, including the limited-edition model, is available now both via authorized retailers and directly through the brand. The BN1015-52E, with its modern all-black allure, and the BN1014-55E, featuring distinctive silver tones, are priced at $550 and $495, respectively. The third model, the BN1010-05E, will be limited in production to 1,200 editions, with its pricing marked at $895.

Showing at WatchTime New York 2023: Perrelet Turbine 41 Titanium https://www.watchtime.com/featured/showing-at-watchtime-new-york-2023-perrelet-turbine-41-titanium/ https://www.watchtime.com/featured/showing-at-watchtime-new-york-2023-perrelet-turbine-41-titanium/#respond Sat, 30 Sep 2023 12:44:00 +0000 https://www.watchtime.com/?p=152716 Perrelet, the distinct Swiss watch manufacturer with symbolic roots dating back to some of the earliest days of watchmaking, is set to make a spectacular debut at WatchTime New York 2023. This highly anticipated three-day watch collectors’ event will take place at the prestigious Gotham Hall in Manhattan from October 20th to 22nd. With over thirty esteemed brands, captivating industry discussions, and immersive horological experiences, WatchTime New York 2023 promises to be a grand celebration of timekeeping. Perrelet will showcase its latest creation, the Turbine 41 Titanium, a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and contemporary design.

On the stage of the Geneva Watch Days 2023, Perrelet first introduced the Turbine 41 Titanium. The new timepiece marked a significant development in the brand’s iconic styling by featuring a smaller case size measuring 41 mm in diameter. This downsizing represented the first time the brand has reduced case size since 2009 when it began its production of exclusively 44mm shells, with the development meant to meet the moment of the market, which has increasingly demanded smaller case sizes.

The hallmark of the Turbine 41 Titanium, as with all Perrelet watches, is its mesmerizing spinning turbine, inspired by aeronautical propulsion systems. Like the case, the turbine has also been miniaturized, in-effect showcasing the brand’s ability for mechanical engineering. Requiring meticulous assembly to ensure it rotates gracefully with the slightest wrist movement, the turbine is comprised of 12 black anodized aluminum blades with five counterweights, together delivering upon form and function.

Perrelet offers the new Turbine 41 Titanium in ten variations. Four models boast a polished/brushed grade 2 titanium case with a matching integrated bracelet, with lower dials available in shades of blue, green, red, or black. The remaining six versions showcase a black DLC titanium case with a rubber strap matching the sub-dial’s color: yellow, orange, red, English green, blue, or black.

The Turbine 41 Titanium maintains the aesthetics of the Turbine EVO collection, launched in 2019 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the patented Turbine technology. The case and bracelet feature a smooth bezel, vertically fluted case middle, triple lugs, and a prominent crown adorned with the brand’s logo. Notably, the new watch introduces slightly redesigned hour and minute hands filled entirely with white luminescent material, enhancing legibility even in low-light conditions.

Driving the updated Perrelet is the self-winding P-331-MH calibre, a new movement entirely designed in-house and manufactured by Soprod, a sister brand of Perrelet as part of the Festina Group. The automatic mechanism features a frequency of 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours, with timing certifications from COSC and Chronofiable. The movement’s finishing, including rhodium-plated and circular-grained bridges, can be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.

The new Perrelet Turbine 41 Titanium collection will be available for purchase from authorized retailers worldwide starting in the fall of 2023, with pricing marked at with pricing marked at $4,750 when equipped on a rubber strap and $4,850 on a titanium bracelet.

Showing at WatchTime New York 2023: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph https://www.watchtime.com/featured/showing-at-watchtime-new-york-2023-roger-dubuis-excalibur-spider-flyback-chronograph/ https://www.watchtime.com/featured/showing-at-watchtime-new-york-2023-roger-dubuis-excalibur-spider-flyback-chronograph/#respond Thu, 28 Sep 2023 12:56:00 +0000 https://www.watchtime.com/?p=152673 WatchTime New York 2023 is only a few short weeks away, with the three-day horological fair poised to be one of the biggest collectors’ events of the year. Taking place from October 20th to 22nd at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall, over thirty brands are set to showcase some of the most important watches in the market today, all live and in-the-metal. Among the brand’s joining this year is Roger Dubuis, which is set to highlight one of their summer launches in the new Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph.

With the new timepiece, Roger Dubuis once again demonstrates its technical prowess in the field of high-end mechanical chronographs. Inspired by motorsports, the 45mm watch is equipped with a carbon case and ceramic bezel. With skeletonized flanks, lugs, and rocker pushers, it adopts various features from the dynamic world of racing. The same applies to the five-arm rotor, which is designed like a rim. Under the hood ticks a fully integrated chronograph caliber with flyback function, which Roger Dubuis has braced against shocks, gravity and magnetism.

Named the RD780 automatic, the manufacture caliber features several technical and aesthetic innovations, such as the chronograph clutch equipped with the “Second Braking System.” This mechanism adds stability to the stop-seconds hand, the display of the column-wheel mechanism on the dial side, and the balance at 9 o’clock, which is inclined at an angle of 12 degrees and, according to the watchmaker, has an inertia like a tourbillon, which enhances both precision and resistance. Diamond-coated silicon elements in the escapement provide resistance to magnetic fields. Perhaps the most impressive feature, however, is the minute counter placed at 3 o’clock.

The patent-pending mechanism is equipped with a three-part hand bearing the digits 0, 1, and 2 and precisely runs along the numerals 0 to 9 on the right side to indicate the elapsed time. In addition, the RD780 offers a power autonomy of 72 hours.

Pricing for the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph is marked at $101,500 excluding VAT.

Hamilton’s legacy of designing and producing trusted timepieces for military forces began in the 20th century. Founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and now part of the Swatch Group, the brand has maintained the same rugged ethos of those timeless field watches throughout the Khaki Field collection, serving as the inspiration for its latest adventure-ready model, the Khaki Field Titanium.

Both watches are water-resistant to 100 meters and available in 38mm and 42mm sizes. They are driven by the the selfwinding H-10 automatic movement with a power reserve of 80-hours power reserve and the highly magnetic resistant Nivachron balance spring. The movement comes to life through the sapphire crystal caseback.

The Khaki Field Titanium 38mm retails for $1,145 in a brushed titanium case and for $1,245 in titanium PVD. The 42mm versions retail for $1,195 and $1,295 respectively.
